Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck nehmen wir gleich im Hotel ein, feiner Toast, Eier, Fr\u00fcchte und wohlriechender Kaffee. Leider regnets noch immer nach dem heftigen Gewitter, welches in der Nacht wohl alle von uns mindestens einmal aufgeweckt hat. Das Pl\u00e4tschern von den D\u00e4chern war so heftig, dass ich bef\u00fcrchtete, der Innenhof w\u00e4re bis zum Morgengrauen aufgef\u00fcllt. Auf Grund der unsicheren Wettersituation entschliessen wir uns kurzfristig, allesamt mit den Begleitfahrzeugen zu den Tempeln hochzufahren, was sich im Verlaufe des Tages als die kl\u00fcgere Variante herausgestellt hat. Oben auf dem Berg schlendern wir durch die Tempelanlagen inmitten des Waldes. Frei lebende Affen verfolgen uns neugierig, als wir die 325 Treppenstufen zur Tempelanlage erklimmen (wie gut, dass wir nicht schon die 23km berw\u00e4rts mit dem Rad auf dem Buckel haben). Unz\u00e4hlige weitere Treppenstufen folgen innerhalb der Anlage, wozu ich jetzt einfach einmal Bilder sprechen lasse …<\/p>\n

After a delicious breakfast of eggs, toast and jam, as well as eggy bread (French toast) fresh fruit and coffee, we discussed our plan for the day. We should have cycled 23 km up a hill to visit two temples and back again, but since it was pouring with rain ( as it had done for most of the night) we decided to opt for the easy way and all travelled by minibus and truck instead. As it was it continued to pour down until after lunch, so we made a wise choice…<\/p>\n

The temples were interesting, cultural objects, so no photos, but we had to climb lots (and I mean lots, 500 at the 2nd temple alone!) of steps. At the 2nd there were lots of hungry monkeys, but we didn’t risk buying peanuts to feed them, and left that to the Chinese tourists.<\/p>\n

After we returned to Shaxi, the weather cleared up, so some of us went for a walk to another local village, others cycled and the rest just relaxed…. Saving energy for our 108km ride tomorrow…..<\/em>
